MRS. CARSON IS TAKEN IN DEATH
Funeral Services will Be Friday Afternoon At 2:00 O'clock

Mrs. W. L. CARSON, 300 South Main street, passed away at her home at 9:15 oclock Tuesday evening. She was 73 years old. She had been ill about two weeks preceding her death. Funeral services are to be held at 2:00 Friday afternoon at the Hoskins funeral home. Rev. Gilbert Voorhies of the Presbyterian church will be in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. CARSON moved to Fairfield with her husband from near Birmingham seventeen years ago. The couple celebrated their forty-eighth wedding anniversary March 17.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. T. C. ALLEN; and one son Glen. There are two brothers, John GOULD of Emporia, Kansas and R. S. GOULD of Birmingham; and one sister, Mrs. Cora FINDLEY of Kansas City, Mo. Three grandchildren, Ruth Helen and Harold ALLEN, also survive.

OBITUARY

Mrs. W. L. CARSON

Sarah Agnes GOULD, eldest child of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. S. GOULD was born Oct. 15th, 1860 on a farm one and a half miles south of Birmingham Ia., and passed away the evening of April 3rd at her home in Fairfield, Ia. Her entire life with the exception of the last 15 years had been spent in the vicinity of Birmingham. She remained there to help care for her parents. She acquired a splendid education graduating from the Academy which used to be in Birmingham and for four years was one of the most successful teachers ever teaching in the schools of that vicinity. She taught music also and was a sweet singer always using her talents for God's honor and glory.

On March 17th, 1886 she was united in marriage to W. L. CARSON and to this union three children were born. The first child a son died at birth; the second Laura Edna was born in 1890 and the third Glenn Elmer in 1904. She loved her family and was anxious and willing mother and good housewife. She loved flowers and was an excellent needle worker.

In early womanhood she became a member of the Presbyterian church at Birmingham later moving her membership here.

For many years she taught in the Sabbath school at her old home and now she was assistant teacher of the Women's Bible class of the Presbyterian church. She was very fond of every member in it and often spoke of her love for them. She was a good Bible student.

With her family she moved to Fairfield to be near the daughter and help care for her children. She leaves her husband, one son Glenn at home and one daughter Mrs. Thos. C. ALLEN and three grandchildren Ruth, Thelma and Harold. Her sister Mrs. Cora FINDLEY of Kansas City, Mo. and brother John GOULD of Emporia, Kansas, came to help care for her during the last few days of her illness. The other brother R. S. GOULD of Birmingham and his family were with her whenever possible, nieces and nepehws are Walter and Helen GOULD of Emporia, Kans. Lucile FINDLEY of Chicago, Ill., Maurice, Marjorie, Ruth and Rachel GOULD of Birmingham. Funeral services were held at the Hoskins funeral home April 6th by her pastor Rev. Gilbert Voorhies. Pall bearers were the two brothers John and R. S. GOULD, M. D. Hope, Clyde Nelson, Chas. and Robert Johnston. A large crowd attended, many friends coming from a distance. Two singers, Mrs. Gilbert Voorhies and Miss Cora Ball, whose voices she had admired and enjoyed many times sand "Saved by Grace" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
