AGED CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES IN CITY
Rev. H. S. CARPENTER Passed Away Following Illness

Rev. Hiram S. CARPENTER, will known (sic) Civil War Veteran died at 11:40 o'clock this morning at his home, 607 West Adams street following a month's illness.

Rev. CARPENTER was born Sept. 16, 1847 (sic - 1846) and made his home here for the past forty-nine years. He is survived by three children his wife having preceded him in death ten years ago. He was a member of Company I 147th Illinois regiment.

The body will be taken to the Hoskins Funeral Home pending arrangements.

CARPENTER RITES WILL BE THURSDAY AT HOSKINS HOME

Funeral services for Rev. S. H. (sic) CARPENTER, Civil War veteran who died here yesterday will be held at the Hoskins funeral home tomorrow, Mar. 12, at 4 p.m. in charge of Rev. G. W. Poole. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.
