H. CARLOW dies at 81

Hazel M. CARLOW, 81, former longtime employee at the United Telephone Co. who retired in 1962, died at 2 a.m. Sunday at her home 302 W. Adams. She had been in failing health the past year.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Free Methodist Church with the Rev. George W. Koch officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery with the Weston Behner Funeral Home in charge.

Hazel M. CARLOW was born May 17, 1897, at Bloomfield, the daughter of Horace and Hattie SNODDY CARLOW. She had made her home in Fairfield for 65 years and had been employed at the telephone office for over 44 years prior to her retirement. She began her work at the office in 1918 as an operator and had served as supervisor from 1952 until she left the firm. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

The last of her family, she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters.
