DEVORAH MCVAY (sic - McKAY)

Devorah McKAY was the youngest of six children born and raised in Philadelphia in an orthodox Jewish family. She went to Temple University and sometime later earned an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work, a unique training program that she always treasured. Her wide range of positions in government and sectarian agencies included: Caseworker and Supervisor for Public Assistance in Philadelphia, Foster Care worker for Jewish Family Services, Group Services for International Agency, Adoption Coordinator for Chicago Children and Family Services, Administrative Rep. in NYC for Federal Bureau of Health, Education and Welfare, Counseling Services at Lutheran Services in Harrisburg, Pa.

In addition, at Shippensburg U. in Pennsylvania, she taught college level Social Work courses and supervised student field work placements. At the Capitol Campus, the Harrisburg Division of Penna State U., she taught Organizational Behavior and helped to develop a field work curriculum for their new outreach program. Alongside this, she did private counseling and life coaching all of her professional years and following.

Her marriage to Clint McKAY in 1968, an interfaith and interracial union, whom she first met in 1953, was of the dearest and most cherished fulfillments in her life, sustaining her always from its many gifts. Clint held high level social welfare administration positions which were very demanding.

Guided by Clint's direction, Devorah began the Transcendental Meditation technique following his early demise from illness. She went on to become a TM teacher, taught TM in Harrisburg, then moved to Fairfield, Iowa, in 1986 to join the MIU Campus. She learned early on to be a Maharishi Jyotish teacher, studied Sanskrit, and continually took advantage of the rich Vedic Knowledge and advanced techniques which she loved. She was forever grateful to her revered teachers His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Guru Dev.

At her ending, she wished to send OODLES of Love & Thanks to her many, many WONDERFUL friends, nieces and nephews, and also wished to acknowledge the marvelous love, support and guidance from Master John Douglas and the Master Angels.
