FairfieldMary Lou (CANAAN) CRAFT, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Sept. 21, 2020, at Baptist Village in Owasso, Okla., at the age of 92.
She was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Lucerne, Mo., the daughter of William and Ethel (SMITH) CANAAN. She graduated from Unionville High School in 1945. She married Vernon CRAFT on Sept. 5, 1946, at the the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They farmed in Packwood for 10 years before moving to Fairfield in 1960. Vern and Mary Lou were faithful members of Suburban Heights Baptist Church. Mary Lou loved her family, the Lord, her church family and their good neighbors. She was the cook for Jefferson County Head Start for many years. Mary Lou also taught elementary grades at Suburban Heights Baptist School for and was was much loved by her students.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Debbie DENNIS; her brother; and three sisters.
She is survived by one sister, Wanda of Ottumwa, two sons, Gary (Karen) CRAFT of Weilerbach, Germany, and Tom (Callvina) CRAFT of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Marianne (Tim) TIERNEY of Pembroke, N.H.; a son-in-law, Richard DENNIS of Bastrop, Texas; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Behner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Suburban Heights Baptist Church, followed by a graveside service at Memorial Lawn in Ottumwa, Iowa.
