MRS. SAMUEL A. BURR
LaUna Belle, second of the eleven children of Ephraim and Mary MOSS was born on February 8, 1870 at Bladensburg. She passed on Wednesday, May 20, 1936 when past 66 years of age.
On September 15, 1903 she was happily married to Samuel Arthur BURR and lived happily in this union till she passed away. Two children were born to them, both of whom survive.
She leaves to mourn their loss her sorrowing husband, her children, Margery EARHART of Fairfield and Carl BURR of Washington and her 3 grandchildren. Her father, three sisters and one brother have preceded her in death. Her mother, Mrs. Mary MOSS survives and lives in Ottumwa. Surviving brothers and sisters are W. E. MOSS of Ottumwa, Mrs. Maud SWAFFORD of Denver, Colo., D. D. MOSS of Ottumwa, John MOSS of Selma, Ia., Mrs. Mae KING of Ottumwa and Mrs. Hazel KILLBURN of Rawlings, Wyo. Besides these there are a number of surviving nieces and nephews and many friends and acquaintances who will mourn her passing.
She became a member of the Bladensburg Christian church in early childhood and later moved her membership to the Batavia, Iowa church, and later to the Bethesda church of the M. E. church, that being near her residence. She retained her faith until the end. She was sick for over four years and seriously ill over a month. Always patient and thoughtful of others she will be missed by her loved ones and a wide circle of friends. A loving wife and good mother her passing leaves a sorrowing home circle.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon conducted by Rev First Christian church of Fair- S. P. Williamson, minister of the field (sic - two lines transposed; should read '... by Rev. S. P. Williamson, minister of the First Christian church of Fairfield.'). The hymns "No Night There" and "Asleep in Jesus" were sung by Mrs. D. J. Whittaker and Mrs. Floyd Eyestone accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Glen McCormick. Pallbearers were: Glen McCormick, Guy McCormick, McKinley Bailey, Pete Bucher, Clarence McCormick, and Mahlon McCormick. The remains were interred in Evergreen cemetery.
