MOUNT PLEASANT -- Harold BURNETT, 71, of Mount Pleasant died at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).
He was born March 5, 1916, in Fairfield, the son of Samuel A. and Bessie LONGWELL BURNETT. He was married Oct. 21, 1951, to Lucille SHELANGOSKI at Nashua.
BURNETT graduated from Fairfield High School and had worked in the plumbing and heating business in Fairfield. He moved to Newton in 1951 where he was associated with the Anderson Plumbing and Heating Co. He moved to Mount Pleasant four years ago following his retirement.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Sue SELBY and Debbie BURCHETT of Kellogg, and Dee TOWNSEND of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Charles Tweed officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
A memorial has been established.
