J. BURKE DIES AT HOSPITAL

Joe BURKE, 52, well known Jefferson county farmer, passed away at the Jefferson county hospital about noon Saturday. He had been in failing health for three years, seriously ill for two weeks, and had entered the hospital the day before.

Last rites will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Rev. S.P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. BURKE was born May 25, 1895, at Fairfield, the son of Joe and Mary IVORSKI BURKE. He had lived his entire life in Jefferson county.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Madelon and Mildred. Mr. BURKE is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Frank BURKE, Fairfield; John BURKE, Chicago; Philip, of Tennessee; Mrs. Marie BAKER, Washington, Iowa; Mrs. Bertha SAMUELS, Lansing, Minnesota; Mrs. Eva HENDRICKS, Fairfield; Mrs. Helen GREESON, Michigan; and Mrs. Clara VON BUENING, Sioux City.
