Illness Fatal To Joe BUCKINGHAM

Joe J. BUCKINGHAM, 68, 206 North D St., died at 5:45 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital. He had been seriously ill since last Sunday.

Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

A retired farmer, BUCKINGHAM resided in the Batavia area for many years. He was born Dec. 12, 1897 at Mount Pleasant, the son of Thomas and Jennie EDGER BUCKINGHAM(.) He was reared and educated in Mount Pleasant.

BUCKINGHAM was a veteran of World War I. He was married to Laura FRITZ Feb. 10, 1920.

Surviving are his widow, 10 daughters and two sons: Mrs. James SHOOK, Okinawa; Mrs. John HAY, Burlington; Mrs. Keen HOYT, Centerville; Mrs Kenneth NEFF, Washington D.C.; Mrs. Willard NELSON, Fairfield; Mrs. Eugene TAYLOR, Hudson; Mrs. Martin GAUBY, Klamath Falls, Ore.; Mrs. Wendyl OGDEN, Batavia; Mrs. James BOYENGA, Sparks, Nev.; Doris BUCKINGHAM, Cedar Rapids; Glen BUCKINGHAM, Fairfield; and Frank BUCKINGHAM, Des Moines. Twenty-five grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by four grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
