HAL H. BROWN PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING

Many friends in this city will learn with regret of the death of Hal H. BROWN which occurred this morning at nine o'clock in Mount Pleasant. The remains were brought to this city this afternoon and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Belding on South B street where the funeral will be held. No definite arrangements have been made yet but it is expected the last services will be held Friday morning.

Mr. BROWN was born in Wyanet, Illinois, June 2, 1867, and grew to youngmanhood there. When he was eighteen years old he went to Kansas City, Mo., to reside. He was for several years employed on the railroads, attaining the place of conductor before he resigned. For the past twenty years he had been a traveling salesman and for fifteen years represented the Manhatten Milling Company of Manhattan, Kansas.

Mr. BROWN was forced to resign his position last fall on account of failing health and from that time his condition gradually grew worse until the end came.

On April 6, 1907, Mr. BROWN was united in marriage to Mrs. Jessie CONLEE of this city and for a time the couple made their home here and then moved to Keokuk. About a year ago Mr. and Mrs. BROWN returned to Fairfield to make their home. Mr. BROWN had a number of customers in Fairfield and also made a large number of warm friends during his residence here. He was a jovial, big-hearted man who made friends easily.

Mr. BROWN was a member of the Elks lodge of Keokuk, and he also belonged to the Order of Railway Conductors.

He is survived by his wife and a little stepson Robert CONLEE, one brother Ed. C. BROWN of Kansas City, Mo., and three sisters Mrs. W. E. VanCAMP of Villisca, Mrs. Fawn CHILDS of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mrs. Leo BLACKER of Kansas City, Mo.
