... BUCHANAN
By Mrs. J. E. Prince, Fairfield... That unwelcome guest, death, has invaded another one of our homes and taken the babe and the pet of the family from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph BROWN, in Buchanan township. The little one was ill but a very short time and was not considered dangerous until the hand of death was laid upon her little brow. Francis Dorothy was born September 20, 1920, and died January 13, 1922, at the age of 16 months. That dreaded disease membraneous croup, was the cause of the little ones death. Another sad fact is that the family was placed in quarantine and the willing hands of neighbors were unable to assist them in their sad hour. The last rites were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Thompson, at their home on the porch, the funeral being private.

FRANCIS DOROTHY BROWN
Frances Dorthy (sic) BROWN, youngest child of Ralph and Hannah (KELLY) BROWN, was born near Fairfield, Ia., September 20, 1920, and died January 13, 1922, aged almost 16 months.
Membraneous croup was the cause of her death. Little Frances was an exceptionally bright child and won the way into the heart of all who knew her with her sweet little smile. She never knew what it was to be sick, but was always ready for her romp and play.
She was baptized June 12, 1921 by Rev. Seeds in Bethesda church.
Her ready smile, and the patter patter of her busy little feet will be sadly missed by the loving ones at home.
Besides her parents she leaves 4 sisters and 2 brothers to mourn her loss.
Short funeral services were held outside the door. Sabbath afternoon, burial was in Evergreen cemetery.
