Funeral Services For Civil War Veteran To Be Held WednesdayCharles BREWINGTON, 82 years old and a veteran of the Civil War, died at noon today at his home, 401 North D Street, after an illness extending over five years. He had been bedfast since December 27.
Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 oclock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Dr. C. L. Tennant of the Methodist church. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. BREWINGTON was born in Dearborn county, Indiana, June 18, 1841, and came to Keosauqua with his parents when but a lad.
He is survived by the widow and nine children, the latter being: Arthur BREWINGTON and Mrs. Ethel BAKER (sic - BARKER) of Des Moines; Thomas BREWINGTON, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Agnes STUEHRK of Oskaloosa; Mrs. Ruby STREAN of Brook Park, Minn.; Mrs. Herbert SCHROEDER, Mrs. George BARKER, Boyd and Edgar BREWINGTON of Fairfield.

Charles BREWINGTON was born in Dearborn county, Indiana, June 18, 1841 and died February 12, 1923, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 24 days. He moved to Keosauqua, Iowa with his parents in 1843 and lived there continuously until he enlisted in the army in Company F, Second Iowa infantry, May 1, 1861. He re-enlisted December 28, 1863 and was mustered out at the close of the war, July 12, 1865.
He was married to Nancy M. PERRY in Keokuk, Iowa, September 20, 1870. One daughter, Mrs. Lucey E. SCHRECKENGOST, preceded him in death August 3, 1911. He is survived by his wife and ten children and one brother, Will, of Fairfield. The children are: Arthur BREWINGTON of Des Moines, Mrs. Agnes STUEHRK of Oskaloosa, Thomas BREWINGTON of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Barbra SCHRODER of Fairfield, Stanley BREWINGTON of Fairfield, Mrs. Mary BARKER of Fairfield, Mrs. Ethel BARKER of Des Moines, Mrs. Ruby STREAN of Brook Park, Minn., Boyd BREWINGTON of Fairfield, Edgar BREWINGTON of Fairfield. All the children were home but Mrs. STREAN.
He had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for a number of years, first at Keosauqua, Iowa, and later here.
