FRED. A BOWERMASTER DIED, AGED 83.

Frederick A BOWERMASTER died at his home on South depot street this morning at 5 o'clock after an illness of sometime. Mr. BOWERMASTER has been a resident of this city for nearly forty years and was a highly respected man among the people of this city and county.

Frederick A. BOWERMASTER was born in Clinton Ohio February 15, 1825(.) When a young man he moved to Trenton, Iowa, and in October 1868 removed to this city where he has since made his home.

Mr. BOWERMASTER was father of ten children, two daughters, Mrs. Mary GOUGH and Mrs. Anna ALLENS (sic - ALLUM) have preceeded (sic) their father in death(.) The surviving children are John E BOWERMASTER Recorder of Jefferson county; J. W., Henry L. Homer L all of this city. Mrs. Dora COOPER and Mrs. Nellie DOUGLAS who reside in this county; Orrin R. of Fenton, Wyoming and Frank of Ottumwa.

Mr. BOWERMASTER was twice married, his first wife dying some years ago. His second wife survives him.

The funeral services will be held Monday morning at ten o'clock from the residence, and the remains will be laid to rest in evergreen cemetery.

Life of F. A. BOWERMASTER

Frederick Alexander BOWERMASTER was born near Wilmington, Clinton county Ohio February 15, 1825 and died in Fairfield, Iowa June 6, 1908, aged 83 years, 3 months and 21 days.

He was married to Mary A PYLES in 1849. She died in 1857 leaving two children, Mary E. and John E. In 1858 Mr. BOWERMASTER was again married to Mary Cathrine ROBERTS. Nine children were born to them, six of whom with their mother survive Mr. BOWERMASTER. They are as follows: Orrin R., James W., Henry L. Homer L., Mrs. Frank COOPER and Nellie C. DOUGLAS.

Three children Mrs. Mary E. GOW, Mrs. Anna D. ALLUMS and Fred have preceeded (sic) their father to the other land.

Funeral services were held Monday morning June 8 at 10 o'clock from the residence on South Depot street(.) Services were conducted by Rev Thomas Osborn, pastor of the Methodist church. Interrment (sic) was made in Evergreen.

Aged Citizen Dead.

Frederick Alexander BOWERMASTER died Saturday morning at his home on South Depot street, from old age. He was an old and respected citizen of this county for many years, and has many friends who heaar (sic) of his death with deep regret.

Deceased was born February 15, 1825. He was married in New Antioch, Ohio, to Mary A. PYLES and to them were born two children--Mary E., who died about twenty-three years ago, and John E. BOWERMASTER, county recorder of this county. His wife died in 1857. In the year 1858 he was again married, to Catherine ROBERTS. To this union nine children were born, seven of whom are living, as follows: Orrin R., of Fenton, Wyoming; J. W., Henry L., Homer L. and Mrs. Nora J. COOPER, of this city; Frank A., of Ottumwa; Mrs. Nellie C. DOUGLAS, southeast of this city.

Mr. BOWERMASTER moved from Ohio to Iowa in 1859, settling in Henry county, where he lived for ten years. In 1869 he moved to a farm in this county, about 6 miles northwest of Fairfield. He remained on this farm until about fourteen years ago, when he moved to Fairfield, and has made this city his home until the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock, at the home on South Depot street, conducted by Rev. Thos. Osborn. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
