BONNETT Funeral Will Be Monday

Ira BONNETT, 79, longtime resident of the Fairfield Community, died at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson Nursing Home. His death followed a lengthy illness.

Last rites will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Melburn Sorensen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Ira W. BONNETT was born July 17, 1891, in Van Buren County, the son of Charles and Matilda WADE BONNETT. He was married to Bertha McCARTY.

Survivors include one son, Harold BONNETT, Seattle, Wash.; also two brothers and two sisters, Harry, Ottumwa; Lester, Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Lessie YERION, Libertyville; and Mrs. Lottie LOWE, Sarasota, Fla.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.228, with no gravestone. He was divorced from wife Bertha Louise McCARTY in 1922 and she subsequently married Hugh CARR in 1923 and then Gene RACEY in 1963; she died in 1997 and is buried in Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa, IA.
