Jean E. BONAR, 93, former Fairfield resident, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday at River Hills Care Center in Ottumwa (note: in Wapello Co., IA).
Sservices will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fist (sic) United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Carl Riggs officiating. Following cremation, burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery with the Behner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church.
Jean E. BONAR was born July 17, 1891, at Lebanon, Mo., the daughter of Joseph D. and Lillian BATCHELDER BONAR. She graduated from Parsons College in 1915.
Her first teaching position was in a mountain school in McKee, Ky. Later she was a teacher in a vocation school at Avondale, Chester County, Pa.
She began her duties as a librarian and teacher at the Women's Reformatory in Rockwell City in 1940. She came to Fairfield to live with her mother in 1959.
Miss BONAR was affiliated with the First United Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Log Cabin Chapter DAR, Retired Teachers Association, and Daughters of American Colonists.
She is survived by cousins and friends.
