Anna BLOUGH

Anna BLOUGH, daughter of Peter and Mary KLOPFENSTEIN BRUEY, was born June 10, 1858, in Jefferson county. She departed this life at the Jefferson county hospital, Fairfield, Ia., Monday, March 15, 1943, at 12:15 p.m., where she had been a patient for seven weeks. She was at the time of her death 84 years, 9 months and 5 days old. Her mother died when she was a small child and she then went to live with her grandmother KLOPFENSTEIN. After her grandmother's death, she was taken into the home of an uncle, Peter KLOPFENSTEIN in Lee county, near West Point, Ia., where she grew to womanhood and in whose home she was married.

She was united in marriage to Simon H. BLOUGH of Jefferson county in March, 1882. The first 25 years of their wedded life was spent on a farm southwest of Libertyville in Jefferson county. Then they moved to a farm southeast of Fairfield, near the Henry BLOUGH homestead. In 1919 they moved to Fairfield on East Washington street where Mr. BLOUGH passed away April 25, 1920. In September of 1920, Mrs. BLOUGH moved into her new home at 302 East Washington street, where she has since resided.

Mrs. BLOUGH united with the Presbyterian church at Libertyville more than 50 years ago, later transferring her membership to the First Presbyterian church at Fairfield where she was an active worker as long as health permitted. She was a member of the Fairfield Rebekah Lodge No. 96. While not being able to attend its meetings during late years, yet she retained a keen interest in its affairs and enjoyed a close friendship with its members. She also belonged to the Health club, one of the oldest clubs in Fairfield. This was the one social activity she regularly attended until only a short time before her last illness.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Roth LAWS, Wayland, Ia,, and three half-sisters, also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends and loving neighbors.

The number of cards and the beautiful flowers sent to her during her last illness and the flowers sent at the time of her death were a silent testimony of the love and respect in which she was held.

Funeral services were held at the Hoskins funeral home, Wednesday, March 17, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Dr. William R. Yingling, minister of the First Presbyterian church of Fairfield. Mrs. Joe Hanson sang the hymns, "Rock of Ages," and "Face to Face," with Mrs. Ed Linder at the piano.

Interment was in Evergreen cemetery by the side of her husband. The pallbearers were: Ronald S. BLOUGH, John BLOUGH, Everett BLOUGH, Leo BLOUGH, John DuBOIS and Roy Jewell.
