Alannah Gene SHARER BLATNICK, 52, of Fairfield died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, after a long battle with cancer.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by President Arthur J. Newman of the Fairfield Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial and graveside services will follow immediately at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. BLATNICK was born Sept. 1, 1944, the daughter of Glen Alan and Rhoda REYNOLDS SHARER. She married John BLATNICK Aug. 17, 1987, in Fairfield. Prior to this third marriage, she was married to Gary SHAFFER and John Preston GIBSON.
She attended school in Heber City, Utah, and Lander, Wyo. She graduated with honors from Wasatek High School in Heber City, and with a bachelor's and master's degrees from Utah State University. She taught high school in Samethfield, Utah, before moving to Arizona where she achieved the most successful woman in sales award for the western states. Mrs. BLATNICK was active in theater arts, and created stained glass windows and painting for many Phoenix homes.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held offices of counselor and president of the Relief Society, a local branch of the church's women's organization. She loved children and youth, directing several church plays. Locally, she also was involved in teaching high school, a home schooling family cooperative, leading Great Books discussion groups, parenting classes and gardening.
Mrs. BLATNICK is survived by her husband; three children, Adrienne and Garrison SHAFFER and Lokadana BLATNICK; her mother of Springfield, Utah; and three sisters, Kathy COLLINS of Riverton, Wyo., Rhonda STEWART of Ogden, Utah, and Judith WORMAN of Springville, Utah. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Clayton Glen SHARER; and a sister, Carmen Dee THOMPSON.
