Carson J. BLAKEWAY, resident of Fairfield for the past eight years, died suddenly this morning at his home, 306 West Adams street, after suffering a heart attack.
He had been in his usual health until stricken about 1:00 a.m. today, and died an hour later.
Last rites will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. L. L. Weis in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Carson John BLAKEWAY was born May 26, 1869, near Middletown, Iowa. He was the son of the late John and Briscalla BASHORE BLAKEWAY.
He spent his entire life in the Middletown community until 1941 when he was forced to give up his farm to make way for the government ordnance plant. At that time the family moved to Fairfield.
BLAKEWAY was married on December 23, 1869, at Wever, Iowa, to Amanda UNTERKIRCHER. The couple were members of the Golden Wedding club in Fairfield. Mr. BLAKEWAY had been a farmer all his life until his retirement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George KERN, now of Ft. Madison and formerly of Fairfield; and Mrs. Thomas NUTT, of Douds. He is also survived by three grandchildren, one great grandchildren (sic), a brother, Thomas BLAKEWAY of Edgerton, Wis., and a sister, Mrs. Hattie JOHNSON of Kansas City. One son died in infancy.
