DIED.

BISSELL.--At Colorado Springs, April 26th, 1876, Mrs. Anna BISSELL, wife of Dr. BISSELL, of that city.

The above sad and melancholy announcement will be read with deep sorrow by the numerous friends of the deceased in this State.

A native of our Burlington, in which she was born, October 19th, 1843. Mrs. BISSELL was the second daughter of the late Hon, Barnhart (sic - Bernhart) HENN, so well remembered, by early settlers, as a U S. Land Officer at Fairfield, and a member of Congress from Iowa. "Death loves a shining mark," and seldom has he chosen a brighter one than the subject of this notice. To rare and personal charms she united elegance and refinement of manner with a high degree of mental cultivation of discipline.

In 1866 she was most happily married to Dr. BISSELL, of Colorado, and subsequently accompanying him, visited, and passed some years in Europe. It was while at the Capital of "beautiful France" that the hectic flush foretold the doom, from which neither mountain air and water, physician's skill, nor the affectionate nursing of a fond and devoted husband could save her. A firm believer in christianity, Mrs. BISSELL in early life attached herself to the Episcopal church, in whose faith she lived and died. In conformity with her wish the remains of Mrs. BISSELL were conveyed from Colorado and deposited by the side of her father in the cemetery at Fairfield, Iowa (sic - Evergreen Cemetery).

The following touching notice is taken from the Colorado Springs "Gazette":

The cruel struggle is over, and our sweet friend has found rest. For only two brief years has she made her home among us, but in this short time a host of new-made friends have learned to love her; to love her for the innate loveliness of her disposition, the sweet patience shown in her sufferings, and the cheerful hopelessness under so many discouragements.

Only those, however, who were with her during the last painful weeks saw the brightest side of her beautiful disposition: constantly harassed by much more than ordinary suffering of a mist distressing malady; always bright and peaceful, in the intervals of her distress, her pleasant, playful, kindly humor made the sick room an almost pleasant place. Considerate to and thoughtful for all around her, it was a truly real, if sad, pleasure to wait upon her.

With a wholesome and very human dread of dying there was no fear of death; and when, with an intellect unclouded to the last, this poor, patient sufferer calmly awaited the great change, it was waiting, not for the destroyer, but for the deliverer, the rest-giver; not for death, but for entrance into a newer, better life. And this is our great and only consolation in what would otherwise be a grief without _____. (last word cut off at bottom of column - possibly 'allay'?)
