JAMES J. BIRT DIED THIS MORNING

James J. BIRT, a highly respected farmer residing northwest of this city died this morning about 12:30 o'clock after suffering for over five weeks with a complication of diseases. He has been in a serious condition for the past two weeks and his death was hourly exqected (sic)

Mr. BIRT was a native of Pennsylvania and was born in 1854. When a small boy his parents moved to Iowa and located on a farm in Jefferson county. Both parents died here several years ago. Mr. BIRT grew to young manhood here assisting his parents on the farm. In 1891 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah K. DuBOIS. To them were born two children, Nathaniel and Ona May, who together with their mother are left to mourn the death of the father and husband.

Mr. BIRT was a member of the Christian church of this city and was known as a kind neighbor and friend. The circle of friends which mourn with the family is an unusually large one. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home northwest of this city and the remains will be to rest (sic) in Evergreen cemetery. Rev. G. W. Burch, pastor of the Christian church, will have charge.

The funeral of James J. BIRT, who died yesterday morning at an early hour at his home northwest of this city was held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his home. Rev. G. W. Burch, pastor of the Christian church of this city conducted the funeral. The remains were laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.

In 1891 he was joined in marriage to Miss Sarah DuBOIS who with two children, Ona May and Nathaniel, survives him. The funeral was held at the home yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Burch of the Christian church of which he was a member. ...
