... L. J. BIDWELL, who has lived in this city for several years, died at his home in the southeastern part of town Friday morning, and his remains were interred that evening. He had been disabled by paralysis for three or four years past. ...

Death of L. J. BIDWELL.

Levi Jackson BIDWELL, one of the well known residents of this city, died at his home in Fairfield last Saturday morning at three o'clock. He had been an intense sufferer from rheumatism and a complication of other diseases for several years, and his death came as a great relief. Mr. BIDWELL was born in Auglaize county, Ohio, and he was forty-eight years, two months and twenty-eight days old at the time of his death. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1855 and moved to this place from Brighton, this state, where his father still lives, about twelve years ago. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon at three o'clock, Rev. G. F. Reinking officiating, and the remains were buried in Greenwood cemetery (sic - Evergreen Cemetery).

Note: Buried in Lot Old.P.167. He was married in Jefferson County to Melissa LOWE on Nov. 8, 1870, according to county marriage records, however her given name was Mary M. LOWE. Her obituary refers to her as 'Lizzie'.
