Monday morning about 7 o'clock when Mrs. Alex. BERGQUIST of this city called her husband for breakfast he made no response and upon going to his bedside she found that he was dead. Dr. Bean, who was summoned immediately, said that death resulted from heart disease and that life had not been extinct long. Mr. BERGQUIST occupied a room alone and members of the family heart him cough about 3 o'clock. He had been in ill health for some time, but was feeling much better and brighter since his return to this city from Lawton, Okla., about two weeks ago. Alex. BERGQUIST was born in Sweden November 30th, 1848, and came to the United States in 1867. He came to Fairfield more than twenty-five years ago, and was married here, October 9th, 1885, to Mina PAINE, who survives him. He was a blacksmith by trade and operated a shop in this city for many years, or until his removal to Oklahoma. He had considerable inventive genius and was the inventor of a sulky plow of merit and which had an extensive sale. Mr. BERGQUIST was a man of the strictest honest and of exemplary habits. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. E. NOBLE, where Mr. BERGQUIST died. They were conducted by Rev. W. Luther Bright.
