AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

John BELL passed away at eight o'clock this morning at his home on West Hempstead street. Death was due to advanced age.

Mr. BELL was born in Jefferson county, Ohio, January 15th, 1831. He was married in Ohio to Miss Sarah Ann SPENCER, on March 24th, 1853, and in November of the following year removed to Iowa, locating on a farm northwest of this city.

With the exception of three years which he spent in Ohio with his mother, Mr. BELL has lived continuously in this county since 1854. Mr. and Mrs. BELL left their farm and came to Fairfield to make their home five years ago.

If Mr. BELL had lived but fourteen days longer thay (sic) would have celebrated their sixty-first anniversary of their marriage.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. BELL, three of whom died in infancy. Besides his wife, Mr. BELL leaves one son and one daughter, S. P. BELL and Mrs Mary DAVIDSON, both of this city.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at one o'clock from the home and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

JOHN BELL PASSED AWAY TUESDAY MORNING

John BELL, eighty-three years old, passed away at his home in this city early Tuesday after a short illness lasting only five days.

John BELL was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, January 15, 1931 (sic - 1831). He was united in marriage with Sarah Ann SPENCER, March 24, 1853. To this union were born five children, two of them, S. P. BELL and Mrs. Mary DAVIDSON, both of this city, with the wife, surviving him. One sister, Mrs. Samuel DAVIDSON, also survives him.

Mr. BELL came to Iowa in 1854 and, with the exception of two years spent at Brighton, has made his home in this county since that time.

Mr. BELL was highly esteemed by the large circle of friends and acquaintances which he had formed during his long residence in this city and their sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.

Funeral services were held at the home yesterday afternoon at one o'clock. Interment was made in the vergreen (sic - Evergreen) cemetery.

AT THE COURT HOUSE

Wills of August Walgren and BELL have been filed for probate in the district court.

Mr. Walgren leaves his estate to his wife and ten children, and appointed A. F. Cassel, William Krumboltz and J. W. Cassel as executors without bond.

John BELL leaves all his property real and personal, to his wife during her life.
