M. Gladys REED BEHNER

M. Gladys REED BEHNER, 90, of Maplewood Care Center in Keota died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at the care center (note: in Keokuk Co., IA).

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Fairfield Public Library or Mapelwood Care Center.

Mrs. BEHNER was born Oct. 11, 1908, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Augustus D. and Anna M. KELLER REED. She married Weston F. BEHNER June 4, 1936, in Davenport. He died Oct. 14, 1987.

Mrs. BEHNER graduated from Fairfield High School in 1926 and attended Parsons College for 3 1/2 years. She was a school teacher in the Jefferson County rural school system, a member of First United Methodist Church and Pythian Sisters 156.

Survivors include one son, Frederick A. BEHNER of Fairfield; two stepdaughters, Shelley ANDERSON and Jodi WENTHE; one stepgreat-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Ralph, Earl, Ray, Chester, Verne and Elvin REED; and one sister, Pearl REED.
