MRS. SARAH BAUM DIED AT VILLISCA

Many friends in this city will learn with regret of the death of Mrs. Sarah BAUM which occurred yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter Mrs. Florence FARMER in Villisca. Mrs. BAUM had been in ill health for some time past but her death was due to paralysis. She was a former well known resident of this city and was about 70 years old (sic - 77 years old).

Mrs. BAUM moved from Fairfield to Villisca about nine years ago and had since made her home in that city. She was a member of the First Christian church of this city and was well known here. The remains were brought to this city this afternoon and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Pence on South Sixth street.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10:30 o'clock the first Christian church on East Broadway. Rev. S. B. Ross will conduct the last service. Mrs. BAUM leaves to mourn her death, her daughter, Mrs. FARMER and a granddaughter Miss Grace FARMER, both of Villisca, and a niece Mrs. Sadie ALLENDER of this city.

Died--Mrs. Sarah BAUM died September 9th, at Villisca, Iowa, aged 77 years.

Mrs. BAUM was the widow of Michael BAUM, who passed away in this city some ten years ago (sic - in 1901), and was a resident of Fairfield for about twenty-five years. The last six years of her life she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. James FARMER, of Villisca, Iowa.

The deceased suffered a stroke of paralysis about three years ago and has since that time been in frail health, until death, yesterday, came to her release.

The remains arrived this afternoon and were taken tot he . H. Pence home, 106 South Sixth street.

Funeral services will occur tomorrow at 10:30 o'clock from the Christian church an (sic) interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Died--Sarah BAUM, Sept 8, 1912, at Villisca, Iowa, aged 78 years.

Sarah ARCHIBOLD (sic - ARCHIBALD) was born near Portsmouth, Ohio, October 25, 1834. On January 1, 1850, she was united in marriage to Mr. BAUM. To this union five children were born, three of whom died in infancy. The other two were Mrs. C. G. TAYLOR, of Fairfield, who died several years ago, and Mrs. J. E. FARMER, now a resident of Villisca, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. BAUM lived for two years in Ohio, then they moved to Iowa, living in Jefferson county. Mr. BAUM died in 1901.

Mrs. BAUM remained in Jefferson county until 1905, when she moved to Villisca, where she spent the reminder of her days.

Mrs. BAUM had been in fair health up until September 3, when she was stricken with apoplexy. She lingered on for five days growing weaker until her death, which came at 1:30 on Sunday.

Mrs. BAUM is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. E. FARMER, of Villisca, Iowa.

The funeral was held this morning at 10:30 in the Christian church, Rev. Ross, of Fairfield, conducting the services.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. R. B. Ducanson, of Hastings, Neb., and Mrs. Mart TOOTHAKER, of Middletown, Iowa.

Mrs. Sarah BAUM, a former resident of this city, died Sabbath at the home of her daughter in Villisca, death being due to paralysis. The remains were brought to Fairfield Monday and funeral services held at the Christian church at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning.
