Mrs. Ruth BATES Passes Away

Ruth Elzine ADAMS BATES passed away this morning at the Jefferson county hospital at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 12 days. She is survived by three children, Maude L. PARSONS, Anna J. SHANSTROM and Victor Dallas BATES. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 at the Hoskins Funeral Home.

Funeral Services For Mrs. BATES Held Mon.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Elzine ADAMS BATES of Salem, mother of Mrs. Perry PARSONS, 307 W. Madison, Mrs. Isaac SHANSTROM, northwest of town, and Victor D. BATES, 806 West Briggs street, were held Monday at the Hoskins Funeral Home in charge of Rev. S. P. Williamson. Interment in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. BATES was born June 8, 1860 and was the youngest daughter of Ruth and John Quincy ADAMS. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. BATES was born June 8, 1860, the youngest daughter of Ruth and John Quincy ADAMS. She was married to Dr. Thomas Jefferson BATES on March 16, 1882 at Merrimac, Iowa.

Other survivors are four grandchildren, three of them in service, and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were W. W. Lightfoot, Brock Dahl, Ralph Maxwell, Raymond Charles, J. L. Jackson and Leo Blough.

Attending the funeral was Mrs. Fred BRANDMEYER of Danville, a niece.
