Mrs. BATES, 84, Taken In Death

Mrs. Ernest E. BATES, 84, lifetime resident of Jefferson County, died Monday at 6:50 p.m. at the local hospital.

Mrs. BATES resided at 303 E. Briggs. She had been ill since Thanksgiving. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Donald L. Hickman. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. BATES was born Aug. 14, 1882 in Jefferson County, the daughter of James and Emma TROWBRIDGE BARGAR, She was married to Ernest E. BATES Feb. 3, 1905.

Surviving are her husband and one sister, Mrs. Altha SMITH, East Peoria, Ill.
