Frank BASHAM

FAIRFIELD -- Frank BASHAM, who observed his 96th birthday last Oct. 4, died at Hospitality House, Fort Madison, at 1:15 a.m. Dec. 14 (note: in Lee Co., IA).

BASHAM had been seriously ill for two weeks. for the past 2½ years he had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. George CONSBROCK, at fort Madison.

A native of Winfield, BASHAM was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James BASHAM. On Oct. 23, 1884, he was married to Anna Eliza DOUGHERTY, who died Dec. 8, 1955. They lived at Rome and Sigourney before settling in Fairfield in 1903.

A carpenter and contractor by occupation, BASHAM had worked on many of the better residences in Fairfield. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Sigourney for 68 years.

BASHAM is survived by a son and three daughters: James BASHAM, Floris; Mrs. W. E. BOWER, Topeka, Kan.; Mrs. Harry COOK, Fairfield, and Mrs. CONSBROCK.

Last rites will be conducted at the Weston Behner funeral home at 1:30 Monday afternoon. Dr. Curtis R. Douglass, pastor of First Presbyterian church, will officiate, and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Frank BASHAM Dies at 96

Frank BASHAM, 96, died at 1 a.m. today at the Hospitality Nursing home, 703 Avenue D.

For the past four years Mr. BASHAM had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. George CONSBROCK, 311 Avenue E. He lived in Fairfield before coming to Ft. Madison and was a retired carpenter.

Mr. BASHAM was preceded in death by his wife who died Dec. 8, 1955, at the age of 89. The couple observed their 71st wedding anniversary in October, 1955.

Besides Mrs. CONSBROCK, the deceased is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Harry COOK, Fairfield, and Mrs. M. E. BOWER, Topeka, Kan., a son, James BASHAM, Floris, Ia.; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The body was taken to the Weston-Behner Funeral Home at Fairfield where final rites will be held Monday afternoon. Burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery (sic - Evergreen cemetery) at Fairfield.

Services Held For Frank BASHAM

Fairfield -- Frank BASHAM, 96, a former resident of Fairfield, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday in Hospitality House in Ft. Madison. He had been seriously ill for two weeks.

He had been living in Ft. Madison for the past two and one-half years with his daughter, Mrs. George CONSEROCK (sic - CONSBROCK).

He was born October 4, 1860, in Winfield, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James BASHAM. He was married in Mt. pleasant October 23, 1884, to Anna DOUGHERTY, who died December 8, 1955. They lived for a short time in Rome, then in Sigourney and came to Fairfield in 1903. He was a carpenter and a contractor. He was a member of the Sigourney I. O. O. F. for 68 years. He is the last of a family of seven children.

He is survived by a son, James of Floris; three daughters, Mrs. W. E. BOWER of Topeka, Kan., Mrs. CONSEROCK of Ft. Madison and Mrs. Harry COOK of Fairfield; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
