Mrs. BARTON, 76, Dies Suddenly

Death came suddenly last night to Mrs. O. N. "Red" BARTON, 76, long-time resident of the Fairfield community.

She died about 7:45 p.m., at the BARTON farm home one mile southeast of Fairfield on the Glasgow road. She had been in failing health the past three years but her death was sudden and unexpected.

The body is at the Weston Behner funeral home where last rites are pending.

Mrs. BARTON is well known to several residents of the community since she operated a pop corn stand in the downtown area for 33 years. She sold the stand several years ago.

Edna BARTON was born March 3, 1885, at Pierceville, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Virginia HUGGINS STEWART. She was married to O. N. BARTON March 18, 1906, at Bloomfield. They moved to Fairfield 56 years ago and her husband was engaged in the barber business for a number of years until his retirement. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: Maynard BARTON, Fairfield; LaMonte BARTON, Cedar Rapids; and DeWayne BARTON, Libertyville.

Other survivors include seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother, William STEWART, Rock Island, Ill. She was preceded in death by one sister.

Relatives, Friends Attend BARTON Rites

Out of town relatives and friends here for the funeral of Mrs. O. N. BARTON were: Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Olson, Mrs. Staley Kerofsky, Donna and Gary Kerofsky, Mrs. Fred Broksick, Mrs. Eva Dyer and William STEWART, all of Rock Island.

Mr. and Mrs. Russ Gunderson, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wellman, Earlville; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jenn and Mike, Washburn; Mrs. Clara BARTON and Mrs. Nelliet Graham, Bloomfield; and Mrs. George Creech, Eldon.
