Death of Little Zella BARTLETT.

Died, in Ottumwa, Iowa, Oct. 19, 1889, Zella, the youngest daughter of Arthur and Fannie BARTLETT, aged four years, nine months, and four days.

The family had but recently moved to Ottumwa, where Arthur had been called. Diphtheria was prevalent, and among its victims was Zella, the pride of the family. In her sickness there was something peculiar and forewarning. As long as she could speak she sung her Sabbath school songs. Her favorite one was as follows:

Little feet be careful
Where you lead me to;
Anything for Jesus
Only let me do.

And with a smile, said, "Mamma," "Papa," and the vital spark left the body. Now, mother and father, lay aside those playthings which she will use no more; they will tear anew the broken heart and cause it to bleed again with sorrow. But kind, weeping friends, let these lines console you:

There is no such thing as death;
In nature nothing dies;
From each sad remnant of decay
Some forms of life arise.

The little leaf that falls,
All brown and sear (sic - sere) to earth,
Ere long will mingle with the buds
That give the floweret birth.

M.
