DEATHS

Arthur M. BARTLETT

Arthur M. BARTLETT Sr. a former Fairfield resident passed away at his home in Ottumwa (note: in Wapello Co., IA) yesterday morning at 6:10 o'clock. Death came from a sudden heart attack after a prolonged illness of several years. He celebrated his 76 birthday October 17 and a number of friends called to see him during the day and he was feeling unusually well.

For several years Mr. BARTLETT and his family made Fairfield their home and Mr. BARTLETT was operator and ticket agent for the C. B. & Q. railroad going to a like position in Ottumwa in 1889. Of later years he was a painting contractor.

Funeral services will be held at the family residence in Ottumwa at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon and burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery here. Hs wife preceded him in death April 11, 1927, also a son, Charles R. on November 18, 1927 and a daughter Zella A. on October 19, 1889.

Two daughters, Mrs. Jessie B. TEAL of Kilbourne and Mrs. Anna B. WARD of Seattle, Wash. and three sons, Emery H., Arthur M. Jr., and Carl J. all of Ottumwa survive. He also leaves four granddaughters and three grandsons.
