Raymond Arthur Watts, 80, formerly of Packwood and Hedrick, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at Sigourney Care Center in Sigourney.

The funeral was scheduled for today at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Jackson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetic Association.

Mr. Watts was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Liberty Township of Jefferson County, the son of Maurice Otto and Ora Jane Burris Watts.

He grew up in the Birmingham and Stockport communities. He attended Bonnett School in Birmingham and Spencer School in Stockport.

He lived in Packwood until moving to Hedrick in 1986.

Mr. Watts served in the U.S. Army during World War II from March 1945 until November 1946. He later served two tours of duty during the Korean War from 1948 to 1955.

He worked for cattle farmers in the Packwood area, Dickey Transport and Tom Brown's Conoco in Packwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Harold, John, Walter, Maurice and Charles Watts; and two sisters, Ruth Thomas and Gladys E. Coffin.
