… We were sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Ella BARGER, one who had lived among us when a girl; one who was faithful in the church, and in the Sunday school, but no one will miss her as her bereaved husband and her little children. They have the sympathy of all her acquaintances at Salina. …

Mrs. Ella DUNLAP, wife of E. S. BARGER, died at her home in this city Thursday evening after a prolonged illness from consumption. Deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William DUNLAP of Lockridge township. She was born in Mahaska county, and was in the thirty-sixth year of her age. The family has resided in this county since 1870, and it was here that she and Mr. BARGER were married, in 1875. The year following they removed to Kansas, where the husband engaged in business, and that state and Nebraska had been their home since until August last. Never of rugged health, Mrs. BARGER began to fail very perceptibly perhaps three years ago and her return to her old home was made in the vain hope that a residence here, among old friends and with a change of surroundings, might restore her strength. But that was not to be. Gradually she faded away until death relieved her from her sufferings. Through all her final illness she realized her situation and with the calmness which marked her entire life awaited the summons which was to call her hence. Mrs. BARGER was the mother of three children, two sons and one daughter, the youngest six, the eldest twelve, who survive her. The funeral occurred in this city Saturday afternoon, and the remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery, Rev. W. G. Thorn conducting the services. The hymns which were sung at the funeral were selected by Mrs. BARGER, "God be with you till the end," and "There is a gate which stands ajar."
