JOHN A. BARE PASSES AWAY
Funeral Services Will Be Held Tomorrow Afternoon from The Christian Church

John A. BARE passed away yesterday morning at 5:15 oclock at the University Hospital at Iowa City, following an operation (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 oclock from the Christian church in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly. The Knights of Pythias will have charge of the services at the grave. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. BARE was born December 6, 1875 and has been residing in Fairfield at 507 West Stone street for several years. He is survived by his wife, and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Agnes TODD of Clearwater, Nebr., Mrs. S. J. WARD and Mrs. Vera WARD of Elgin, Nebr., Norton H. BARE, medical missionary at Batang, China, Orlando BARE Jr. of Clearwater, Nebr.

Mr. and Mrs. S. J. WARD and Mrs. Vera WARE of Elgin, Nebr., are here for the funeral.

… --Mr. and Mrs. Leicester JOHNSON and little son Wendell have returned to their home in Shenandoah after being here to attend the funeral of Mr. JOHNSON's uncle, John A. BARE.

--Mrs. Melvin DUVALL of St. Joseph, Mo., who was called to Iowa City and then here by the illness and subsequent death of her brother-in-law, John A. BARE, will leave tonight for a short visit at the Leicester JOHNSON home in Shenknoah (sic). Mr. and Mrs. JOHNSON will motor to St. Joseph and take her home and spend Sunday there. …

… --Mr. and Mrs. S. J. WARD and Mrs. Verna WARD returned yesterday morning to their homes at Elgin, Neb., after being called to the hospital in Iowa City and here by the illness and death of John A. BARE.

OBITUARY

JOHN A BARE

John Abram BARE, son of Orlando S. and Matilda BARE was born at Sterling, Ill., Dec. 6th, 1875.

He had resided in Fairfield for the past four and one half years, coming here from Iron Mountain, Mich., to help care for his wife's father.

On July 1st, 1090 (sic - July 1st, 1909), he was united in marriage to Rosabel M. CANTERBURY of Fairfield, Iowa, who survives him. He is also survived by his mother and father and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mae WARD and Mrs. Verna WARD of Elgin, Nebr., Mrs. Agnes TODD of Clearwater, Nebr., Orlando S., Jr., at home and Dr. Norton H. BARE, a medical missionary in Batang, China.

He was an employee of the Dexter Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Pythian Sisters, of Fairfield and the A. O. U. W. of Clearwater, Nebr.

He was a faithful and consistant member of the first Christian church, having united with that church at Dixon, Ill., about 20 years ago.

On May the 9th he underwent an operation at the Jefferson county hospital for appendicitis. Four months later he suffered an acute attack of chronic intestinal obstruction and was taken to the University Hospital at Iowa City, where he underwent another operation, death resulting from complications.

He passed away Sunday at 5:15 a.m.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 oclock at the First Christian church services in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly.

Knights of Pythias had charge of the services at the grave. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

Relatives from out of town who were here to attend the funeral of Mr. John BARE, were Mr. and Mrs. S. J. WARD and Mrs. Verna WARD of Elgin, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. Leicester C. JOHNSON and son Wendall of Shenandoah, Ia., Mrs. M. J. DUVALL, St. Joseph, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. O. Ubrahan and Mrs. B. Kent Ottumwa, Ia., Miss Elizabeth FRY of Waverly, Ia. Mr. Carol Abrahan of Ottumwa, Ia.

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of John A. BARE, Deceased, is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson county, and that November 8, A. D. 1927 at 1:30 oclock p.m. has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court this 27th day of October.
