E. R. BANJAY DIES TODAY
Funeral services for former Fairfield resident to be Friday

Ernest R. BANJAY, 52, former Fairfield resident, passed away at 9:20 o'clock this morning at his home, 507½ East Main St., Ottumwa (note: in Wapello Co., IA). He had been in failing health since last October, and seriously ill since Saturday. On Sunday morning he suffered a severe stroke and cerebral hemorrhage, from which he failed to recover.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Hoskins funeral home in this city, in charge of Rev. S. P. Williamson. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Ernest BANJAY was born in Iowa October 28, 1888. He was employed with the L. B. Price Mercantile Co. of Ottumwa for the past nine years, having moved to that city from Fairfield just nine years ago.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Leota THOMPSON of Ottumwa and Mrs. Harold LESHER of Cavalier, S. D.; one son, Joe of Estes, S. D.; and his mother, Mrs. John FEASEL of Fairfield.

Note: Buried in Lot SDiv.2-016. He was married twice, first to Flora Belle JOHNSON who died in 1927 and with whom he is buried, and second to Hazel Gertrude HUPP BAKER, who died in 1978. Hazel is buried in an adjoining lot with her first husband, Henry BAKER. For some reason, the birth year on Ernest's gravestone is 1889, although he was born in 1888.
