OBITUARY

MRS. FRANK P. BALL

Anna I. CALHOUN, who married the late Frank P. BALL, was the eldest daughter of Noble CALHOUN and Malura JAMESON CALHOUN. She was born Sept. 9, 1854 in Beaver county, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh. When she was a mere babe, her parents moved west, into the newly opened country. After reaching Van Buren county, in Iowa, they settled in Winchester, where they made their home for a number of years, later moving to Jefferson county.

At the age of 23, she was married on November 14, 1877, to the late Frank P. BALL, son of Smith and Rebecca MOFFITT BALL, who were among the early settlers in Jefferson county. Their children are George M. BALL, residing in Iowa City, Ethel Malura, deceased, Edith Rebecca, who married Clarence BOWER and reside near Glasgow, Mary Emily, wife of Carl W. JAY,, and Miss E. Noble BALL, residing at the Ball homestead.

After having lived on a farm near Wooster, the family moved to Fairfield in 1912. Here they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 14, 1927. They were active in the Ebenezer church, near Wooster, never losing their connection with and interest that organization. The pioneer Smith BALL family had assisted in the formation of the church and were charter members. Like her husband, Mrs. BALL led a quiet Christian life. In Fairfield, the family has attended the Methodist church.

Mrs. BALL died March 23, 1935. Funeral services were conducted by Dr. U. S. Smith, interment being in Evergreen cemetery.

In addition to her immediate family, Mrs. BALL is survived by three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren as well as a sister and a brother. The grandchildren are Smith Ronald BALL, Mary Kathryn BOWER, wife of W. K. BOOS, and Malura Alyn BOWER. Ronald Franklin BALL and Gene William BOOS are great-grandchildren. Mrs. BALL also leaves one brother, D. W. Scott CALHOUN, of Compton, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. A. W. JAMESON of Edina, Mo. Another brother, J. M. CALHOUN, died in Fairfield a few years ago, and a sister Mrs. Addie RIMER died in Edina, Mo., years ago.
