NATHAN BAKER PASSED AWAY
Funeral Services to be Tomorrow Afternoon At 2:30

Nathan H. BAKER, 90 years old passed away last night at the home of his son, Ray, at 301 North Court street. Mr. BAKER was born in Harrison county, Ohio, on February 4, 1843.

The funeral will be Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Campbell funeral parlors. Dr. U. S. Smith will be in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

BAKER RITES HELD TODAY
Civil War Veteran Came To Iowa to Live In 1866

Funeral services for the late Nathan H. BAKER, Civil war veteran, are being held this afternoon from the Campbell funeral home in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith. Mr. BAKER passed away Wednesday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M. H. CUDDY, 301 North Court street.

Mr. BAKER was born in Harrison County, Ohio, on February 4, 1943 the son of M. A. and Ruth RANDELL BAKER.

He enlisted as a private in Captain Joseph C. Patterson's Company "F" 98th Regiment of Ohio Foot Volunteers for service in the Civil war, and was enrolled on August 9, 1862 to serve for three years or during the war. At the time of his enlistment he was 19 years of age.

He was discharged on February 4, 1865 at Columbus, Ohio, by reasons of disability. He re-enlisted and served to the end of the war.

Mr. BAKER came to Iowa in 1866. He was married on September 13, 1866 to Catherine (sic) GREGG who passed away on January 26, 1908 (sic - Jan. 24, 1908).

Surviving Mr. BAKER are three children, Mrs. CUDDY and W. R. BAKER of Fairfield, and Mrs. G. B. HEPBURN of Des Moines. One son, Frank G. died on July 14, 1916. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
