Was At Oakdale Sanitarium; Funeral To Be Held Here.Mrs. Charles F. BAKER of Salina, who has been at the Oakdale Sanitarium at Iowa City for the past five weeks died there last night about ten o'clock after being in very poor health since last winter (note: in Johnson Co., IA). The remains were brought to this city this afternoon and the funeral will probably be held from the Christian church tomorrow in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly, although definite arrangements are awaiting word from relatives at a distance.
Mrs. BAKER's maiden name was Miss Stella HALE and she was born May 6, 1878. She is survived by the husband and the following children: William H., Beatrice, Verda Forrest, Effie, Virginia, Richard and Maxine, the latter of whom is but four years of age. She also leaves one brother and five sisters: Hanford HALE, Mrs. Frank DRINKALL, Mrs. B. E. SNYDER and Miss Effie HALE of New London, Mrs. Claude CRESAP of Davenport and Mrs. W. E DESPAIN of Atlantic, Mo.

The funeral services for Mrs. Charles F. BAKER of Salina, who died Sunday night at the Oakdale sanitarium, were held this afternoon at three o'clock from the Christian church. Rev. R. H. Polly conducted the services in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives. Burial took place in Evergreen cemetery.

MRS. CHAS. F. BAKER
Miss Estella May HALL (sic - HALE), daughter of G. T. and Mary D. HALL, was born in Des Moines county, Iowa, May 6, 1878, and departed this life September 23, 1923, being 45 years, 4 months and 17 days old. She grew to womanhood near Yarmouth.
She was united in marriage to W. N. WHITAKER (sic - WHITTEMORE, per marriage record) who lived but a short time. She was again united in marriage to C. F. BAKER, September 16, 1905. To this union nine children were born eight of whom are living, Wm. H., Beatrice, E., Verda O., Forrest O., Effie E., Richard W., Virginia and Maxine. Besides the husband and children she is survived by five sisters and one brother, three step daughters and a host of friends.
When quite young she united with the Presbyterian church at Pleasant Grove. After her marriage she became a member of the Christian church in which faith the lived and died.
She was a good conscientious and faithful christian woman, beloved by all. As a mother she was loving and loyal. Wherever her lot was cast she had a host of friends who will mourn with her relatives her departure. What is our loss will be her gain.
The funeral services were conducted from the Christian church at Fairfield, Tuesday afternoon at three oclock by Rev. R. H. Polly. The songs sun were "Going Down the Valley," "Beautiful Isle," and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye."
Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery.
