Shirley Ann Caves
May 18, 2005Shirley Ann Caves, 69, of Douds, died at 11:23 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Zion Bible Church in Douds, with the Rev. Michael Mosier officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. with the family present from 3-4 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.
Memorials have been established for Zion Bible Church or Douds Community Club. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 15141 Highway 16, Douds 52551.
Mrs. Caves was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Davis County near Eldon, the daughter of Clarence and Emma Kunzman Koogler. She married Ralph L. Caves Aug. 14, 1953, in Douds.
She lived most of her life in the Douds community. She graduated from Douds High School in 1953. She worked with her husband in their produce, farming, feed and trucking business.
She was a member of Zion Bible Church, the former Douds Ladies Aide, Douds Community Club and was active in Douds Field Day.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Phyllis Bowers and husband Doug of Urbandale; three sisters, Marilyn Carbaugh of Eldon, Alice Munn of Sun City West, Ariz., and Charlene Canaday of Douds; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
