R. BABCOCK dies at 65

Richard Joseph BABCOCK, 65, native of Fairfield, died Friday at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient since Monday evening. The family home is at 1007 W. Stone.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. William Rathbun officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home.

Richard Joseph BABCOCK was born in Fairfield Oct. 10, 1912. He was the son of George Herbert and Iva BATES BABCOCK.

His marriage to Mildred Doris LOUTH took place Sept. 14, 1933, in Fairfield.

He was employed as a core maker at the Iowa Malleable Iron Co. for 37 years, lifelong resident of the Fairfield community and a member of the First Baptist Church.

In addition to his widow he is survived by a daughter, Doris NELSON, Newport Beach, Calif.; two sons, Richard, Ottumwa; and Larry, Wapello; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He is also survived by two brothers, Herbert, Fairfield; Kirby, Monrovia, Calif.; and a sister, Mary DUNBAR, Fairfield.

BABCOCK was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Mr. and Mrs. James (Doris) NELSON of Newport Beach, Calif, Mrs. and Mrs. Richard BABCOCK and Nita of Ottumwa and Mr. and Mrs. Larry BABCOCK, Mason, Amy Troy and Jennifer of Wapello are visiting in the home of their mother, Mrs. Richard J. BABCOCK.

The children were called home because of the death of their father.

Mr. and Mrs. David CANT and Joshua of Costa Mesa, Calif., accompanied her mother, Mrs. NELSON and husband to Iowa. Other guests are Kirby BABCOCK of Monrovia, Calif. a brother; and Katherine (Mrs. Carl) BABCOCK of Fort Worth, Texas, a sister-in-law; and her daughter, Mrs. C.J. HUMMEL and son, Kevin of Fort Worth, Texas, who will spend some time here. A sister of Mrs. HUMMEL, Mrs. Ron WIGNALLE and Mr. WIGNALLE of Moline were here also.

Also coming to visit their aunt were Mrs. Don POWELL and David of Moline, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Dale JEFFREY, Trent and Troy of Anamosa.

Others came for services from Birmingham, Batavia, Mount Pleasant, Washington and Brighton.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry BABCOCK and family also visited in the parental Glenn LISK home and Mr. and Mrs. CANT called on her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius HILLEARY of Fairfield.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to express our Thanks to all who expressed their love and concern for us at the death of our loved one. A special Thanks to the Medical Arts Clinic and first floor nurses for their care, and to the Baptist Church ladies for the meal served for the family. The flowers, food and expressions of sympathy were greatly appreciated.
