Harold ATWOOD, 82, dies

Harold E. ATWOOD, 82, 205 E. Monroe, died Saturday at 12:40 a.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Carl B. Riggs officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Behner Funeral Home.

A retired Farmer, ATWOOD had been a resident of Jefferson County for 68 years. He was born Dec. 21, 1897 at Piper City, Ill., the son of Wyllie and Loressa WILSON ATWOOD. He was married Aug. 20, 1930 to Margaret OCKERMAN at Albia.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Rosemary HOLDEFER, Fort Madison; one son, Harold J. ATWOOD, Fairfield; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Wilson ATWOOD, and one sister, Alice ATWOOD, both of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

ATWOOD was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the Jefferson County Farm Bureau and the Keep Young Club.
