MRS. ATKINS SUCCUMBS AT HOME HERE

Funeral arrangements are pending for Mrs. Rachel ATKINS, 90, long time residents (sic) of this community, who passed away last evening around 8:00 o'clock at their home, 308 West Jefferson, after an illness of one week.

The body has been taken to the Weston Behner Funeral Home.

Mrs. ATKINS was the daughter of the late Obidiah and Ruth WIGINGTON. She was born May 29, 1853 in Ackworth, Georgia, and lived for around 40 years in the Fairfield community. Previous to that time she had lived in Brighton.

She was united in marriage to Harrison ATKINS, who preceded her in death in 1903. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alberta GARRETT, Fairfield, and Mrs. Ora Mabel PARCELL, Brighton; two sons, John Carlton ATKINS, Centerville, and Meadie Leonard ATKINS, Knoxville, Tenn.; one grandson, Clifford Meade ATKINSON, Camp Campbell, Ky., one granddaughter, Viviene Lucile ANFINSON, Vancouver, Washington.

The family has requested that no flowers be sent.

… --Pfc. Clifford ATKINS returned Friday to his station at Camp Campbell, Kentucky after a few days visit with his mother Mrs. J. Arthur COOPER, 1003 East Burlington St. He was called here by the death of his grandmother Mrs. Rachel ATKINS, which occurred last Sunday evening.
