May 11, 2005Rachel N. Meek, 86, of rural Stockport, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at her home.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery southeast of Birmingham.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family will be present from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa or American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 22760 150th St., Birmingham 52535.
Mrs. Meek was born Dec. 26, 1918, near Mount Zion, the daughter of George and Bernice Bauman Workman. She married Harold A. Meek May 10, 1939, in Ottumwa. He died Nov. 15, 1995.
She was a member of Birmingham Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women. She volunteered at Birmingham Public Library.
Survivors include one son, Van Meek and wife Janet of Birmingham; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Floyd, Walter, John, George and Earl Workman; and one sister, Lucile Stookesberry.
