JOHN ANDERSON DIED LAST NIGHT
End Came at University Hospital of Iowa City After An Illness of Six Weeks

John A. ANDERSON died late yesterday afternoon at the University hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA). Mr. ANDERSON had been seriously ill for six weeks, during which time he was a patient at the Jefferson county hospital. Last week he was taken to Iowa City for further treatment, but physicians at that place gave no encouragement, notifying his family that he had but a short time to live. Mrs. O. S. HART, his only child, was with her father during his last illness.

John ANDERSON was born in Swedon (sic) on July 5, 1847 (sic - 1857), migrating to America as a very young man. Soon after his arrival in this country he came to Iowa and has been a resident of Fairfield for the past thirty-five years during which time he has been engaged in blacksmithing, operating a shop in New Chicago up to three years ago, when he put up a small place adjoining his daughter's home. Thirty-one years ago this month he was wed to Mrs. Rachel JONES, who preceded him in death five years ago (sic - four years ago, in 1917).

The decedent is survived by a daughter, Mrs. O. S. HART and one grandchild, Jane Eileen HART.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Burcell, of the Swedish Lutheran church of Ottumwa, by special request, from the Butler undertaking parlors tomorrow morning at ten o'clock.
