Illness Fatal To Harlan ANDERSON

Harlan A. ANDERSON, 66, former president of the Fairfield board of education, died at 4 a.m. today at his home at 806 W. Kirkwood street. He had been in failing health for more than a year and seriously ill for two weeks.

Last rites will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hoskins Funeral home with the Rev. Donald Eagle officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

ANDERSON was a lifelong resident of Fairfield and a veteran employe of the Louden Machinery Co. He retired last June after 37 years with the firm.

ANDERSON was born in Fairfield Sept. 16, 1891, the son of Andrew and Justina JOHNSON ANDERSON. He was married to Ethelynn HARRIS June 25, 1927 at Batavia.

ANDERSON served as director of the Fairfield Independent school district from 1939 to 1953. He was elected president of the board to succeed the late John W. Earley in 1952. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the first Christian church and the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife and one son, Melvin ANDERSON, Ames. Three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. James SHAW and Mrs. William TRAIL, both of Fairfield, also survive. Two brothers preced also survive (sic). Two brothers preceded him in death.

NOTICE OF THE APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTRIX

State of Iowa, Jefferson County, ss:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the undersigned has been duly appointed and qualified as Executrix of the estate of Harlan A. ANDERSON deceased, late of Jefferson County. All persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment; and those having claims against the same will present them within legal time, duly authenticated, to the undersigned, for allowance and file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court.
