Page 2, Column 3GOLDIE ANDERSON DIED SUNDAY AFTER A LONG ILLNESS
Early Sunday morning, Goldie Mae ANDERSON passed away at the home of her mother Mrs. Cora ANDERSON, 202 Maple Avenue. For several years she had been in failing health but it was only about three weeks ago that her condition became serious and she was confined to her bed, finally succumbing to tuberculosis of the bone.
Goldie Mae ARCHIBALD, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross ARCHIBALD, was born March 24th, 1901, near Abingdon, and when her mother's health began to fail she was taken into the home of her aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles ANDERSON, when she was less than four years of age, and by them adopted as their daughter. Her mother, Mrs. ARCHIBALD, and her adopted father Mr. ANDERSON, have both preceded her in death as have two of her own brothers.
She is sirvived (sic) by her father Ross ARCHIBALD of Cedar Rapids, two brothers, John of Cedar Rapids, and Harry of Omaha, Neb., and a sister who resides in Kansas, also her adopted mother, Mrs. ANDERSON, and a sister Mrs. Ray ANGSTEAD and a brother Otto ANDERSON, all of this city. From the time that she was taken into the ANDERSON home she was surrounded with all the care and affection given children by their parents and that she returned that love was daily shown in many ways.
Realizing during the last few days that death was near she called the loved ones to her side and directed the disposition of her personal possessions, striving meantime to comfort her mother and others and telling them not to sorrow for her. All arrangements for the last service were made in accordance with her expressed wish.
The funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home and the interment will take place in Evergreen cemetery.
