Vernon ALLENDER, 85, died Wednesday at 11:55 p.m. at Van Buren Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua where he had been a patient since Tuesday.
ALLENDER resided three miles east of Birmingham. Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
ALLENDER was born Oct. 10, 1886 in Jefferson County, the son of James H. and Frances COCHRAN ALLENDER. A retired farmer, he had made his home east of Birmingham since 1903. He was a member of the East Union Methodist Church.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nellie HESS, Stockport, and one nephew, James ALLENDER, Ottumwa.
