Page Six, Column 3Birmingham Woman Will Be Buried At Fairfield Tuesday
BIRMINGHAM, Iowa, Sept. 13--May Elizabeth ALLENDER, 67, resident of the Birmingham community for the past 46 years, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the University Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).
She entered the hospital August 23 after a serious illness of about four weeks. She had been in failing health since April this year.
Last rites will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home in Fairfield with the Rev. J. R. Crandall of Stockport in charge. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield.
May Elizabeth ALLENDER was born May 29, 1881, in Clay county, Iowa, the daughter of the late H. and Frances COCHRAN ALLENDER. She was a member of the Birmingham Methodist church and had lived four miles east of here for the past 46 years.
She is survived by one brother, Vern ALLENDER, with whom she made her home; a sister, Mrs. Nellie HESS, Winterset, Iowa; one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers.
