Former Fairfield Businessman Dies Of Heart Ailment

Word was received here this morning of the death of Thomas C. ALLEN, former Fairfield businessman. He passed away in a hospital at San Francisco, California, suffering from a heart attack.

The body will be returned to Fairfield for burial. Although arrangements are incomplete, they have been tentatively set for next Sunday.

Mr. ALLEN was engaged in the hardware business in Fairfield for many years where the Luckman hardward store is now located. He originally was in business with A. W. Streed.

Mr. Streed later sold his interest when he was named president of the Farmer's State bank. He now resides at Middletown, Iowa.

The late George W. E. Snyder purchased Mr. Streed's interest in the hardware store, and the firm then became known as ALLEN and Snyder. They closed the business in 1936.

The following year Mr. ALLEN went to the West Coast where he has been employed since. Mrs. ALLEN, who resides at 51 North D street, was with her husband when he passed away. Mr. ALLEN is survived by his wife and two daughters, Ruth and Thelma. A son preceded him in death.

Last Rites Sunday for Tom C. ALLEN

Funeral services for Thomas ALLEN, former Fairfield businessman who died in California April 26, will be held Sunday afternoon.

The services will be at the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. with Dr. C. R. Douglass in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Thomas ALLEN, 63, was born November 12, 1884, in Middletown, Iowa, the son of the late Ephrum and Mary Margaret ESPY ALLEN. He passed away last Monday at the Mt. Zion hospital in San Francisco, California.

Mr. ALLEN was in the hardware business for several years before the business was sold and he went to the west coast in 1937. At the time of his death he was bookkeeper for the Matson Navigation company in San Francisco.
