DEATH CLAIMS MRS. MAHON, 77

STOCKPORT, Ia. Dec. 6--Mrs. Nettie MAHON, 77, life-long resident of Jefferson and Van Buren counties, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bessie FLEMING in Stockport. She had been seriously ill for a week.

Mrs. MAHON was born on a farm near Wooster in Jefferson county March 7, 1873. Her parents were Scott and Elizabeth SMITH. She was married to Lee MAHON Jan. 3, 1895. He preceded her in death Jan. 31, 1942.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Bessie FLEMING, Ralph MAHON and Harry MAHON, all of Stockport. One sister, Mrs. Claude EDWARDS, Stockport; two brothers, William SMITH, near Stockport, and Harley SMITH, Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. MAHON spent most of her life on the family farm northwest of Stockport before moving to the home of her daughter two years ago. She was a member of the Christian church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Stockport Christian church in charge of the Rev. Elmer Fritz. Burial will be at Wright cemetery near Wooster. The body is at the Catcott Funeral home in Birmingham.
